Dr. rer. nat. Fred Burkhart

Fred advises and represents clients in all areas of intellectual property, with a particular focus on intellectual property rights in the fields of chemistry, pharmaceutics, and life sciences.

Fred studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and earned his doctorate at TUM at the Chair of Organic Chemistry. He is the author of numerous scientific publications. After a research stay at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla (San Diego), he worked as a patent manager at the pharmaceutical company Morphochem for three years.

Fred has been advising German and international companies in the fields of pharmaceuticals, polymers, material production and biotechnology, as well as academic institutions, on all patent law issues related to the acquisition and enforcement of intellectual property rights since 2004. He has been involved in numerous opposition and appeal proceedings. His work also includes preparing expert opinions on infringement and validity issues, as well as freedom-to-operate analyses.
